The ribbon cutting ceremony on the new parking garage expansion has been canceled due to a standpipe not being delivered on-time, according to the construction update on Webster News.
Director of Public Relations Patrick Giblin said in an email it has not been discussed if the ribbon cutting will be rescheduled at a later date.
As announced last year, the garage was originally scheduled to open in May. Giblin said the garage, at this point, is a few days ahead of schedule.
Giblin said the ceremonial event was canceled when it became clear that the university did not have the proper city occupancy permits by that day.
The ribbon cutting was supposed to take place April 20 and one student would be selected to be the first to park in the expansion.
The expansion is scheduled to open at the end of April.
