Webster University’s expanded parking garage will open April 20 with a ribboncutting ceremony, adding 852 new parking spaces to campus.

The expansion will more than double the amount of parking available in the garage, helping to replace other parking spaces that have been closed during the construction of the Interdisciplinary Science Building (ISB).

According to a Webster press release, the garage should add enough new spaces to exceed Webster’s requirements. The total number of spaces on campus will be 2,184.

The garage will also contain a section where students from Nerinx Hall High School will be able to park; the expansion replaces an existing parking lot used by Nerinx students.

“This is yet another step toward providing the new facilities needed to meet the need of the Webster campus community,” Webster president Elizabeth Stroble said. “The garage expansion is one of several larger pieces of a strategic puzzle that will further Webster University’s campus master plan in ways that increase our capacity to educate students and connect with our community.”

On April 20, representatives from the University, the City of Webster Groves, Nerinx Hall High School, Tarlton Construction and KWK Architects will attend a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m., opening up the garage to students. One student will be selected as the first to park in the new expansion.

“This garage is a great example of what can be done through cooperation,” Webster provost Julian Schuster said.
